Liverpool fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest news surrounding Mohamed Salah and his potential inclusion in Egypt’s 2020 Olympic squad.
This comes after Liverpool journalist James Pearce shared a post on his official page quoting a tweet from Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa who claimed that “no decision has been made yet” after news emerged that the winger would be included in Egypt’s 2020 Olympic squad.
Would you be happy for Salah to play in the Olympics for Egypt?
Yes, it's his choice
No, we need him in Liverpool
This post from Pearce highlighting the agent’s claims then gathered a lot of replies from Liverpool fans who were quick to share their thoughts on the situation.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans responding to Pearce’s post:

Salah is a key player for us. But if he wants to play for his country in the Olympics then good luck to him. We have to respect that and simply rotate. We’re going to have to have solutions anyways during AFCON so Klopp will have prepared players to replace him for certain games

If mo wins us the league this year and helped us win the champions league this year, he can do whatever he likes in regards to helping his national team!! @MoSalah ??

If Salah were to be involved in his country’s Olympic team, he could potentially miss Liverpool’s pre-season for the 2020/21 season. Additionally, it was recently reported that both Salah, Naby Keita and Sadio Mane could miss a portion of next season with their possible participation at the African Cup of Nations. Now that Pearce has relayed the information that no decision has been made on whether Salah will play a part in the Olympics, this has led to a lot of Reds fans tweeting their thoughts on the matter.
I think it’s mad how clubs who pay these players millions & millions of pounds can’t just say sorry your not going. Players need to be more committed to their club teams over their international team.

What with AFCON 2021 as well we could lose Salah for multiple games next season. Frankly ridiculous.

What do we think?
It’s understandable that these Liverpool fans don’t want to see Salah miss any games for them by playing for his country. In 137 games for Jurgen Klopp’s side, the Egyptian has scored 89 goals and provided 38 assists (per Transfermarkt). In regards to this season, Salah is currently the club’s top scorer in the Premier League with 14 goals. Whether Salah will take part in the Olympics for Egypt is still yet to be decided, but if he were to miss any games for Liverpool next season, he would surely be a big miss in terms of his goal threat.
