Spurs fans were shocked to see a statistic comparing Mauricio Pochettino’s net spend per season at Southampton and at Tottenham from his time at both clubs.
The stat was posted on Twitter by LastWordonSpurs and shows that the Argentinian spent £30.45 million per season in his time at St. Mary’s, compared to just £19.83 million during his time at the North London club. The 47-year-old was appointed Spurs boss in 2014 after a successful spell at Southampton and enjoyed five years there before being sacked in November of last year.
This stat perhaps shows that Spurs’ run to the Champions League final last season was even more impressive than originally thought, with Pochettino spending very little during his time at the club. This may not have been down to the former Spurs boss however, as he revealed in July of last year that he felt his job title should be changed from manager to coach because of his lack of influence on making signings.
Should Pochettino have been trusted with more transfer money?

Sorry, but whichever way you try and spin it, this is absolutely disgraceful #THFC #Levy

UTD won’t spend serious money, they are not going to give him 300-400 mil. He hasn’t proved he can win anything yet

Imagining at United should make Levy physically sick. He’s going to smash it.

These Spurs fans are clearly less than impressed with the stat involving Pochettino.
What do we think?
Pochettino showed in his time at Spurs that spending lots of money wasn’t necessary to finish in the top four, however, if they had spent more money then perhaps they would have had some trophy success.
