Fans of Everton have been gushing over Romelu Lukaku on Twitter after footage emerged of the Belgian’s hat-trick against BSC Young Boys in 2015.

On Wednesday, it was five years to the day that the, now, Internazionale striker bagged three goals in a 4-1 hammering of the Swiss side (per BBC) and after the footage re-emerged on Twitter, originally posted by @ClassicEFCMatches, fans gushed (via Toffee TV).

Who would you rather was playing up front for the Toffees currently?

That year, the Toffees had topped Group H to reach the round of 32 stage of the competition, having finished above Wolfsburg, FK Krasnodar and Lille (as per BBC).

Everton then departed the Europa League that season in the round of 16, with a 5-2 defeat in the away leg against Dynamo Kyiv sealing the Toffees’ exit (per BBC), however, with fans paying homage to Lukaku, John Stones also received some attention from supporters.

What do we think?

With 87 goals and 29 assists over 166 games for the Toffees (per Transfermarkt), it comes as no surprise that the Belgian is still so highly regarded by the Goodison Park faithful.

This term, the former Manchester United forward has bagged a whopping 21 goals and four assists over 32 games in all competitions for his Serie A side (per Transfermarkt), going to show the 26-year-old still has immense quality.
