Fans of Everton have reacted to the transfer of former midfielder Darron Gibson to League Two side Salford City.

The Irishman joined the north-west club on a free transfer, signing a short-term deal (as per BBC) – which had fans of the Toffees slating the character of their former player (via Everton News Feed).

Could Darron Gibson still be an Everton player if not for his injuries?

Yes, they marred his time here

No, wasn't good enough anyway

The 32-year-old midfielder played at Goodison Park between January 2012 and the summer of 2017, arriving from Manchester United and departing for Sunderland (as per Transfermarkt).

During his time in Merseyside, Gibson featured on 69 occasions for the Toffees, during which he bagged two goals and six assists (as per Transfermarkt), however, there was another thing which fans picked up on from his signing photo.

What do we think?

Over the duration of Gibson’s career, his time with different clubs has been marred by injury (per Transfermarkt) and for the player’s sake, hopefully, that is all behind him.

Having played the entirety of his career at a higher level than League Two (per Transfermarkt), Gibson’s ability may also help him to hit the ground running in Salford.
