Supporters of Everton have aired their fury that Chris Kavanagh has been appointed as the referee for the Toffees’ clash with Manchester United.

On Sunday, the two sides will meet at Goodison Park, however, with Kavanagh appointed as the man in the middle (as per Premier League), supporters could not help but fume (via @TheKendallEnd).

Do you believe that corruption comes into play with the PGMOL's refereeing appointments?

No, don't be silly

Yes, very possible

Yes, very possible

Sunday’s game will be the first occasion that Kavanagh has refereed an Everton game this season, however, it will be his third Manchester United tie, the previous two of which the Red Devils have lost (per Transfermarkt).

However, despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side having lost both ties under the guidance of the referee so far this season (per Transfermarkt), the Goodison Park faithful were still having none of it.

What do we think?

Over the duration of the season so far, Kavanagh has dished out 90 yellow cards, zero red cards and five penalties over 26 games (per Transfermarkt), which would seem to suggest he shies away from rash decisions.

However, for Everton fans to suggest ‘corruption’ of a referee that has overseen two United losses in the two games of theirs that he has been in charge of (per Transfermarkt) seems a little far-fetched.
