It was a somewhat underwhelming transfer window for Crystal Palace fans this past January, with the side only bringing in two players. Scott Banks was brought in from Dundee United’s reserves and certainly looks like one for the future at 18 years of age. It seems unlikely he will see a ton of first-team football under Roy Hodgson just yet, though. The other transfer was Cenk Tosun, brought in on loan from Everton. He may be a better signing for the short-term, but a temporary squad member.

This week, however, the club announced that the side were bringing in 20-year-old Jay Rich-Baghuelou to the reserve team until 2021. The news could be a great move for the future for Crystal Palace fans. However, judging by the responses to the club’s announcement tweet, it is difficult to determine how they truly feel about the incoming player. On one hand, their responses could be filled with excitement, however, they could also be full of sarcasm. We are guessing the latter.

Some fans thought the player was going to waste away in the academy and will never get a chance to play with the first-team.

What do we think?

While it is possible that some of these comments are a positive reaction to Rich-Baghuelou’s signing, it is more likely that they are airing their grievances at the lack of big-name signings during January. Hopefully, for the Palace fans, the lack of business doesn’t result in them playing Championship football next season.
