Aston Villa fans have been reacting to footage of a goal scored by Douglas Luiz in a Villa training session.
This comes after Villa fan account @astonforza shared a post on their page that included a video clip of the Brazilian scoring a wonderful long-range volleyed goal in training.
Has Douglas Luiz had a good season so far?
Yes
No
This post then gathered a number of replies from Villa fans who were in awe with what they saw from their midfield man.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the footage:

However, instead of just admiring the goal scored by Luiz, some Villa fans mentioned a recent comment made by club manager Dean Smith after seeing his side lose 2-0 to Southampton at the weekend, saying that they have too many “training ground players“. This recent post of Luiz then gave some Villa fans the opportunity to point the finger and accuse him of being one of those players.
Yeah again this just backs up Dean smiths point
All well and good scoring these at Bodymoor, it doesn’t matter there lol— Holly ? (@HollyJen86) February 28, 2020
DS said players are training ground players…saying everything when you see this and we can’t do the same in the game

Why can’t he replicate on the pitch ??????????. This is What Deano goes on about. Can be done in training, but can’t be done against the opposition ?

What do we think?
While the goal scored by Luiz in the training footage was a fantastic finish, it does seem quite harsh that he has now been picked out by these fans as one of the players Smith called into question last weekend.
