These West Brom fans discuss the latest rumours surrounding Newcastle United’s Dwight Gayle.
Despite currently being a Newcastle player, Gayle played 41 matches for West Brom during his time on loan at the Hawthorns. During these outings, the 29-year-old scored a staggering 24 goals and also managed to record eight assists.
The rumours came from Alan Nixon on Twitter, after he stated: “Gayle is the top target. But you are yet to commit to the deal. However you haven’t gone anywhere else for a striker. So. He’s still first choice but it’s not cheap or easy.” This was in response to a West Brom fan asking: “Al in your opinion do u (sic) expect wba to sign Gayle or have we others in pipeline?”
Here’s what the West Brom fans had to say about the rumours after WBA Report relayed them on Twitter, who appear to have stated he could be available for “as little as £8m” after Nixon revealed the news about Newcastle’s demands:

Newcastle would be willing to accept as little as £8M for Dwight Gayle if a club were to bid for him this month.
West Brom, Nottingham Forest and Leeds are all interested.
Thoughts?

At that price I’d take him. Literally can come play football in my back garden ???

100% for that price. The return you’d get for his goals would be worth it.
With Gayle in this side from the start of the season we’d be clear by some way at the top. No question— Jasewba (@JasonWba) January 12, 2020
That’s more like it. Try 5 mill and throw in a bag of pork scratchings

Will Dwight Gayle sign for West Brom in January?
Yes
No
So far this season, Gayle has played nine matches for Newcastle in the Premier League, however, the 29-year-old has failed to score in all of these league outings.
These West Brom fans seem pretty keen to get this deal done, that may be because they want to try and further their lead at the top of the Championship, with the Baggies just one point clear of Leeds United.
Sign him

What Do We Think?
Considering Gayle seems to be struggling at Premier League level, failing to score in the league so far this season, you could argue that should West Brom be promoted, the forward would no longer be useful.
However, if Slaven Bilic wants to almost guarantee the title, maybe bringing in another striker could be a smart move and one we suggest.
