Sunderland are in a great run of form at the moment. The side are unbeaten in their last nine games and pushing up the table in search of automatic promotion. This run of form has come off the back of Aiden McGeady being dropped from the squad, with the player not even making the bench in the club’s last nine games. McGeady was dropped after manager Phil Parkinson confirmed the player was for sale, which was a result of both his on-field performances and off the field antics.
However, yesterday Sunderland announced that McGeady was set to leave the club, not on a permanent transfer, but on loan. The player will join Charlton Athletic until the end of the season. There was no mention of Charlton having an option to buy the player, but some Sunderland fans were happy to see the back on him regardless.
Should have sold him but at least he's away from the club and off the wages bill for a while. Hope he does a job for them but good to see the back of him.

Its best he moved on. Hope he gets a permanent move out of it.

This slipped under the radar. On his day he was a match winner. Far too often he went missing. Attitude and lack of team player questioned by many. Some great memories last season including EFL Trophy Final but we look better without him as a ‘team’ #SAFC

Do you think Sunderland's good form is down to McGeady's absence?YesNo |
Others, while they admit leaving was the right decision for both the club and the player, thank McGeady for his great service to the club.
Cheers for everything Geads.

What do we think?
It can’t be a coincidence that the club suddenly started playing well after McGeady was dropped. Hopefully, with the player gone for good, or at least the season, it can help Parkinson charge up the table in search of his goal of promotion.
