In this week’s press conference, Phil Parkinson confirmed Sunderland’s interest in Rangers’ Greg Docherty. The young midfielder could be on his way to the Stadium of Light, but the fans will have to wait until after their weekend fixture against MK Dons before anything is revealed.
Parkinson said: “Greg (Docherty) is a player we have looked at and had initial chats with Rangers about. There are a number of discussions going on but with the weekend coming we will reconvene after Saturday’s game,” said Parkinson (Sunderland).
Regardless of whether he signed before the match or not, it is very unlikely that Docherty would be thrown into the game against MK Dons anyway. The midfielder would likely need a few days with the squad before he is comfortable enough to play with them in a competitive match. But that hasn’t stopped these fans from voicing their concern over Sunderland’s transfer dealings. They can’t believe it takes so long for the side to complete transfers.
Sounds like we are a long way from signing him

I honestly can’t believe it takes so long to bring someone in on loan……I thought we had 4 or 5 lined up… it’s simple, does he want to come, do we want him, are Rangers prepared to let him go ….if yes to all 3 then he should be here by now. It really is tedious

Do you think Sunderland will complete the signing of Greg Docherty?
Yes
No
Others question the incompetence of Sunderland’s recruitment team. They don’t understand why the first-team playing a match should get in the way of the recruitment team doing their job.
Us having a match on Saturday surely shouldn’t affect our recruitment team? They only work part time like?

Why should having a game effect transfer talks it’s not as if the so called recruitment team are playing for us are they? Are we that stupid?

Come on recruiting team get ya fingers out and bring him in!

What do we think?
Regardless of whether or not Sunderland signed the midfielder on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it won’t make that much of a difference to the MK Dons game. But it still leaves Sunderland fans concerned with how tough it is to actually bring someone on.
