For about a week it has been rumoured that Greg Docherty would be leaving Rangers for regular first-team football at Sunderland. The player hasn’t managed to break into Steven Gerrard’s first-team quite yet but is eager to earn the English manager’s trust by taking his trade out on loan. This news was originally posted by the Northern Echo.
But since then, there has been no confirmation that Docherty’s move to Sunderland was happening. This week Kieth Downie reported that the deal now looks unlikely. Upon hearing this, many Sunderland fans were in dismay. They are heartbroken with the news, after clearly building up their hopes that the player was bound for the Stadium of Light.

One fan isn’t surprised. He blames the club’s inability to quickly tie up deals. One assumes the player will be drawn in by a Championship side.

What do we think?
There is still time for this deal to happen, but with the window more than halfway over, time is running out. One thing is for sure though. The fans above want the move to happen. If it doesn’t, they will be gutted.
