Following Sheffield Wednesday’s disappointing defeat at Wigan on Tuesday night, boss Garry Monk has had some harsh words to say in regards to his players.
Monk was quoted as saying his players were “going through the motions, especially in that second half” (as reported via the club’s official website).
Whilst the former Birmingham City coach was quick to point the finger at his squad, it appears there are some supporters who disagree with his comments and believe that he should take more responsibility for the performance.
Can Garry Monk steer Sheffield Wednesday back-on-track?

Sorry, disagree with these comments. Buck stops with the manager – he picks the team and he isn’t getting it right. Wigan, one win in 17 before tonight.

What do we think?
Garry Monk’s side have won just one of their last six Championship fixtures and currently sit bottom of the league’s form table. This latest defeat has seen them slip down into 11th place and the gap between themselves and the play-off positions has increased to five points.
That doesn’t mean they are out of the running by any means but there is now very little margin for error, and given their current run, it’s difficult to see where such a dramatic improvement is going to come from.
To a degree, the buck does stop with the manager but Sheffield Wednesday haven’t been right for a number of weeks now and the responsibility lays with all the staff as a collective.
