This week it was confirmed that Jamie Murphy was being shipped out on loan from Rangers to Burton Albion. The club announced that Murphy would be working alongside Nigel Clough, his former Sheffield United manager, until the end of the season (Rangers).
At 30 years of age, and his contract ending in the summer of 2021, it looks unlikely that Murphy will push back into the Rangers squad upon his return. But this news troubled many fans. They don’t think Murphy is any worse than the options they currently have. Sheyi Ojo is currently on loan from Liverpool while Brandon Barker only just made the move from Manchester City (transfermarkt.co.uk). Despite making the move from the two best teams in England, these players aren’t cutting it for these fans.

Don’t get why we loan players out like him and Hastie but bring in Ojo and Barker

After what happened to JM giving his all for the club and getting such a devastating injury I would rather see him on the bench than Ojo.

Far far far too good for League 1 I’m afraid and yup definitely let the wrong guy go soooo much better than Ojo,Barker or Jones… but best of luck @Jamiemurphy89!!

Think we should have kept him cos he’s better than Barker and Ojo. Hopefully we’ll go out and get another winger in

Would Jamie Murphy be your preferred starter over Ojo or Barker?
Yes
No
What do we think?
If Jamie Murphy does stay at the club next season, we would be surprised to see him walk into Steven Gerrard’s squad. League One football may not be the level he is meant to be playing at right now, but it would also be unrealistic for him to start for a top team in the Scottish Premiership.
