While the January transfer window is usually central to the signing and selling of players, Charlton Athletic fans are eager to see their manager, Lee Bowyer, sign a new deal.
The manager’s contract expires in the summer, and fans think he still has a lot to offer the team. That’s why they got excited when they saw their team post a video of him at a press conference late on Thursday night.
The supporters thought this was going to be an announcement of the manager signing a new deal. Unfortunately, it was only Bowyer confirming that contract talks between him and the club were ongoing and that he was close to signing.
The fans were a little letdown, suggesting that they will be anxious right up until the moment his extension is confirmed. Some fans think the deal will be announced imminently, ideally with a new player.
Maybe they will announce Lee and a player at the same time ??

Unfortunately, no news of the manager signing has come yet. Bowyer’s comments do suggest that he will stay with the club for an extended period of time, however. But until the announcement is made, the supporters are unsure of exactly how long this extension will be.
