Some Celtic fans have made it clear that they are unhappy despite the promotion of the Hoops’ Women’s team, as they become a professional team in Scotland.

The Hoops Twitter handle posted a message for the Hoops’ Women’s team but the fans made it clear that they want some transfer activity to be done in the ongoing January transfer window.

The club has already been linked with a move for Slovan Bratislava striker Andraz Sporar, with Jordan Rhodes also linked with a Sheffield Wednesday exit and Hoops move. In recent days, Sheffield United and Brighton striker Billy Sharp and Glenn Murray have also drawn links.

Celtic fans: Is this the most critical transfer window in recent history?

Some Hoops fans made it clear that they want some swift transfer activity.

The Hoops have also drawn links with many other players, with Cruzeiro defender Fabricio Bruno one of them. Highly-rated youngster Bruno Davidson has also been strongly linked with a move to Parkhead.

This past summer, the Hoops were very active in the transfer window. The club managed to shell out £11.83 million in the summer, bringing in Christopher Jullien from Toulouse. They also signed Boli Bolingoli and defender Hatem Abd Elhamed from Hapoel Be’er Sheva.

The club signed Fraser Forster and Mohamed Elyounoussi on loan from Southampton, with Greg Taylor also coming in from Kilmarnock.

As for outgoings, Celtic were active in that department too. Kieran Tierney left the club for Arsenal and as many as six players left on free transfers. This included Scott Allan, Cristian Gamboa, Mikael Lustig and Dedryck Boyata being just some of them. They earned a total of £24.30m from sales in the summer.

What do we think?

The Women’s team deserve immense credit for turning professional. But that doesn’t change the fact that the club needs some winter signings to make sure that they keep their Premiership winning run going. A win for Rangers in their game in hand could see Celtic slip to second in the table. The business that is done this month should be spot on or it can have long-term effects on the club.
