Some Celtic fans have been left very frustrated at the club’s transfer policy of not signing established players when they some have weak players in the current side.

With the dust from the Old Firm defeat now settling, the January transfer window has swung wide open to allow the Hoops to make some transfers and bolster their side.

But the Bhoys fans are frustrated at the club’s tendency to not sign established players when they are what the club needs.

After Celtic Gossip relayed their concerns on Twitter, many of the club’s faithful replied with their own views on how to improve; with many suggesting the need for a better transfer policy to be in place this January.

Celtic have already been linked with a host of players so far in the ongoing January transfer window. Links with Slovan Bratislava striker Andraz Sporar have emerged, with reports also linking them with a move for Cruzeiro defender Fabricio Bruno. Jordan Rhodes was also touted to be a target some days ago, with Victor Wanyama also potentially on the radar.

In the summer transfer window, the Hoops spent £11.83million on signing Christopher Jullien, Boli Bolingoli and defender Hatem Abd Elhamed. They also roped in Luca Connell and Jonathan Afolabi on free transfers. Fraser Forster, Moritz Bauer and Mohamed Elyounoussi also arrived on loan deals.

The club sold Kieran Tierney to Arsenal, but also let go of six players on free transfers. This includes Mikael Lustig, Dedryck Boyata, Marvin Compper and Cristian Gamboa.

What do we think?

It is fair to say that the concerns of the fans are very justified. They need signings that can come and make an impact in the first-team straight away. They are running the risk of throwing away the title for the first time in about ten years and that won’t go down well with Hoops fans. Developmental projects can, perhaps, be signed up in the summer when there is less pressure to perform almost immediately.
