Some Celtic fans reacted indifferently to club legend Lubo Moravcik’s comments on potential transfer target Andraz Sporar in the ongoing January transfer window.
Moravcik, now 54, has recently talked about Sporar in a recent interview that the Slovakian gave to the Daily Record. He backed the club to make that transfer, saying that the striker is very similar to current forward Odsonne Edouard. He also said that the Slovan Bratislava man would be a ‘good option’ if Edouard is sold at any point in the next few months.
Celtic fans: Do you believe Moravcik?
I do, he's a top player!
He's no scout!
These comments have left many Celtic in disbelief as they don’t think Moravcik can be relied on enough as a scout. A Hoops Twitter page called Celtic1967.com relayed these quotes and Bhoys fans made their opinions clear. One fan mentioned the comments Moravcik made regarding Vakoun Issouf Bayo, claiming he could be their next Moussa Dembele – however the 22-year-old has struggled to get to grips in Scotland, with just 13 appearances and one goal to his name since his move 12 months ago (per TransferMarkt).
? Lubo Moravcik: "Sporar is the top player here in Slovakia…He is very strong physically, quick and he is good in front of goal, he makes good decisions in that area. He has got the potential to score a lot of goals for Celtic."

He thought Bayo was good as well, though.

Wouldn’t use Lubo as a scout pic.twitter.com/qDNAYstjfl

Didnt he also give a similar glowing report about Bayo?

Think Drogba said the exact same about Bayo ?

Moravcik was at Parkhead four a total of four years from the summer of 1998 to the summer of 2002. He played for the Slovakian national team and also made 42 appearances for the Czechoslovakia national team before its breakdown.
As for Sporar, he has been in impressive form for his club Slovan this season. He has 26 appearances in all competitions for the club this season, racking up 20 goals during this time. He also has five assists to his name, scoring five times in the group stages of the Europa League too.
Last season was also an impressive one for Sporar. He scored as many as 34 goals and had a direct hand in 43 goals, while playing only 36 games in all competitions.
He is a regular for the Slovakian national team currently. He has made 19 appearances for the side, scoring twice and racking up three assists.
What do we think?
Sporar’s numbers are indeed glowing and it does explain why Moravcik has high praise for the striker. And since he is already a regular for his national team, comparisons to Vakoun Issouf Bayo don’t make sense at all. And Hoops fans should pay attention as Sporar can really be a solution for them.
