Some Celtic fans have been left to hail Leigh Griffiths after his recent goal for the club against Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup.

The Hoops picked up a 2-1 win over Partick Thistle, thanks to goals from Leigh Griffiths and central midfielder Callum McGregor. Partick Thistle pulled one back in stoppage time, as Stuart Bannigan scored from the penalty spot for the club. The Hoops will face Clyde in the fifth round of the competition.

But Griffiths’ goal at the weekend left many Celtic fans delighted. When the Hoops’ Twitter handle posted about it, many Celtic fans were left purring.

So far this season, Griffiths has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops so far. 11 of them have come in the Premiership. The goal at the weekend was Griffiths’ fourth goal of the campaign and he has scored two in the league.

Griffiths had suffered a hamstring injury early in the season and it had ruled him out for as many as 37 days. He had missed 15 games in total and the goal recently was his first since returning for the club.

Last season wasn’t too good Griffiths, who had made 20 appearances in all competitions and found the back of the net six times. But the second half of the season saw Griffiths take a break from playing due to mental health issues.

What do we think?

Griffiths’ goal was a show of the fact that he can still do a job for the club upfront. It suggested that if fit, he can score goals for the club. His form will be crucial, as the second half of the campaign starts off in mid-week.
