Some Celtic fans are fuming after hearing that their midfielder Ryan Christie is facing a two-game ban for in an incident involves Alfredo Morelos, as per a report by BBC Sport.

The recent game against their arch-rivals saw the Hoops lose 2-1, thanks to goals from Nikola Katic and Ryan Kent. It was Odsonne Edouard who had scored Celtic’s only goal of the game, with the club now only two points clear at the top of the table.

But barring the defeat, they could be facing another blow. Christie is now facing a two-game ban for attempting to grab Morelos by the genitals.

Celtic fans: Does Christie deserve a ban?

He does!

He does!

Morelos does too

Morelos does too

Some Celtic fans are fuming about it and they don’t want to see the suspension be handed down to their £3.38m-rated star (as per TransferMarkt).

While there was controversy in the Old Firm last weekend, the Gers now need to win their game in hand to go to the top of the Premiership. The Hoops have lost two games in the league now, with the first one coming back in October in a loss to Livingston away from home.

As for Christie, he has been one of the Hoops’ most important players this season under Neil Lennon. The midfielder has played 33 games in all competitions for the club, racking up a tally of 17 goals and 13 assists already. In the Premiership, he has played 17 games, scoring ten times and assisting times too.

This is already Christie’s best season in Scottish football. Last season, he appeared 38 times in all competitions for the club, scoring 11 games and assisting nine times.

What do we think?

If the ban does go through, Christie will be missed. Having said that, the images show that Morelos had done the same as Christie did in the game. The SFA should look at it and make what would have to be considered a fairer decision.
