Some Celtic fans have been left fuming by the behaviour of striker Leigh Griffiths, who has now deleted his Twitter account after posting a controversial GIF.

Griffiths’ act has caused a lot of controversy amongst Hoops fans. The Scotsman liked a tweet about the club signing Patryk Klimala in the ongoing January transfer window and then posted a GIF of him putting his fingers in his ears. Following this, he deleted his account and left many surprised.

Celtic fans: Are you angry at Griffiths?

He deserves no respect

Nothing wrong with what he did

Many Hoops fans were discussing the incident on Twitter and they are not happy with his behaviour.

The Hoops announced the signing of Patryk Klimala yesterday after he had arrived for a medical at the club on Sunday. Lewis Morgan has already agreed to join Major League Soccer side Inter Miami, meaning that Griffiths may not rise up the pecking order too much.

So far this season, Griffiths has made 18 appearances in all competitions for the club. He has scored three times so far, but the Scotsman is yet to score for the club since he returned from an injury early on in the season.

Last season, he had made 20 appearances in all competitions for the club and got six goals. In the second half of the campaign, he had taken a break from the game due to mental health issues.

What do we think?

The stick Griffiths got for one GIF wasn’t something he deserved. His reputation makes him an easy target and for someone who has faced mental health issues in the past, maybe it isn’t a surprise that he has deleted his account.
