Some Celtic fans have been discussing the potential transfer of Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser to Parkhead as his contract at the Vitality Stadium nears the end.

The Hoops have been linked with multiple players in the ongoing January transfer window. Reports have said that they are pursuing Slovan Bratislava striker Andraz Sporar, with Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes also a potential target.

Reports this past weekend had also linked the club with a move for Brighton striker Glenn Murray and Sheffield United forward Billy Sharp.

Would Fraser be a good move for Celtic?

Not even a question!

One Celtic fan on Twitter called for the club to make a move for Ryan Fraser as he would be available on a free transfer this summer, which has led to many other supporters liking the move, even if his wages will be tough to afford (via The Sun).

Last summer, Fraser was linked with a move to Premier League giants Arsenal. And over the last few weeks, he has also drawn links with European Champions and World Champions Liverpool.

This season, Fraser has played 22 games in all competitions for Bournemouth. 20 of them have come in the Premier League so far, having racked up a single goal and three assists. In the League Cup, he has played twice but didn’t score or assist even once.

This is very different from last campaign though when Fraser was on song for the Cherries. He played every single Premier League game for them, racking up seven goals and a total of 14 assists. In all competitions, the 25-year-old scored eight times and had 15 assists to his name.

What do we think?

Fraser’s numbers from last season show that he can be a very good player on his day. Links with clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool point to the same. But that also points to how he could be out of Celtic’s league when it comes to his wages. His contract will run out next summer but the wage demands are something the Hoops can’t meet.
