Some Celtic fans are delighted that outcast defender Jack Hendry could be out of the club in the ongoing January transfer window.

Some fresh reports on Sunday from Scottish Sun claimed that Premiership side Hearts are looking to sign Hendry this month and are willing to offer him an escape route from Parkhead.

The reports claim that Hearts have been made aware of Hendry’s availability, with the club keen on making defensive signings to bolster their backline this month. It is also said that Hearts could face competition from many English clubs in their chase for the centre-back.

Celtic fans: Do you want Hendry to leave?

He can leave, he's useless

This has left many Celtic fans pleased. They are happy to see Hendry leave as soon as possible.

Hendry is well low in the Hoops’ pecking order this season, with Christopher Jullien and Kristoffer Ajer the club’s first-choice centre-back so far. Both of them have been regulars at the back.

So far this season, Hendry has made just a single appearance for the club in all competitions. That appearance came in the League Cup, but he hasn’t been in the Premiership squad even once and has never been on the bench this season.

Last season, he did play but he wasn’t a regular either. He made a total of 15 appearances in all competitions, with two appearances coming in the Europa League for him. In the Premiership, he made four appearances for the club and played at centre-back in all the games.

Hendry has the experience of playing at lower-level Scottish clubs. He made 30 first-team appearances for Dundee and also has five appearances for Partick Thistle in his career.

What do we think?

At the age of 24, Hendry needs some regular football to thrive. He is nowhere close to getting it at Parkhead. Playing at Hearts will allow him to play more and advance his career. Celtic have Nir Bitton, with Hatem Abd Elhamed also coming back to fitness. Hendry will fall further in the pecking order and selling him won’t be a bad thing at all.
