Some Celtic fans are expressing their anger and dissatisfaction on Neil Lennon’s comments about their January transfer target Ismaila Soro.

The latest reports about the club’s chase of Soro say that the midfielder has had his medical at the club, but work permit issues are holding up the deal from completing. The player is still waiting for his work permit but the reports say that he is expected to be the Hoops’ second signing of the January window.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon was asked about Soro in a press conference and he confirmed that ‘paperwork’ is still holding up the deal. The Hoops Twitter page posted about it and many Celtic fans aren’t happy about it.

Soro is a defensive midfielder by trade and has been a regular in midfield for his club Bnei Yehuda this season. He has made a total of 24 appearances in all competitions so far but is yet to score or assist even once for the club.

He was a regular for the Israeli club last season too. He made 35 appearances in all competitions and even got two assists, with 32 of his appearances coming in the defensive midfield position.

As things stand, Celtic have been using the 4-2-3-1 shape, with Scott Brown and Callum McGregor being constants in the double pivot. While Brown has made 20 appearances in the Premiership, McGregor has also made 20 of them in the league.

What do we think?

Soro is 21 and adds depth to the Hoops midfield. And being young, there is an assurance of some future profit. With Brown not getting any younger with every passing day, Soro could get some football under his belt and develop.
