Celtic midfielder Eboue Kouassi has joined KRC Genk on loan for the rest of the season. The 22-year-old arrived in Glasgow back in 2017 having signed from Russian club FK Krasnodar but has struggled to establish himself as a regular at Parkhead.
The midfielder, who has been blighted with a series of injury problems whilst in Glasgow, has only managed to make just 22 appearances in the three years he has been at the club.
The Hoops paid in excess of £3m to bring the Ivorian to Scotland (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk) but likely feel it’s best for the player and for the club in the long term to release him in the hope he will get more game time and therefore further his development.
Does Eboue Kouassi have a future with Celtic?
Yes
No
How have the Celtic fans reacted to the news the defensive-midfielder has joined the Belgian side?
Seen him against hearts and he couldn’t make a 10 yard pass that day

Another waste of a ‘project’ when we could have bought proven quality.

Waste of a wage.

However, despite the negativity from some towards the player – others were a little more positive regarding the Ivorian’s future.
Bet he turns out to be decent and we’ll wish we had subbed Brown more in games we had already put to bed to allow him to develop , Then we’ll do the same with Soro and moan about that as well. ?

All the best to the lad. ?

Good luck to him. Hope he proves his worth and comes back strong

What do we think?
Given the lack of opportunities Kouassi has had in the Scottish Premiership a loan move seems best for all parties. KRC Genk currently sit in 6th place in the Belgian top-flight and more regular competitive football will no doubt be of huge benefit to a midfielder with many years still ahead of him.
