Aston Villa fans have been pleading on Twitter for the club to not sign Pepe Reina in the January transfer window.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @villareport shared a post on their page relaying information originally published by Sky Sports Italia (via Football Italia) that AC Milan want to find a “replacement goalkeeper for Pepe Reina before they let him join” Villa.
Do Villa need to buy Pepe Reina this month?
Yes
No
This then led to a large number of Villa fans replying to the tweet with their opinions on a potential move for Reina.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans not wanting Reina to join the club this month:

The former Liverpool goalkeeper has been recently linked with a move to Villa Park to replace the injured Tom Heaton. But with second-choice goalkeeper Orjan Nyland putting in a stunning performance in Villa’s 1-1 draw against Leicester in midweek, some Villa fans think Reina is not needed at the club.

We don’t need him now

Fair enough and it saves us a couple of weeks wages. Nyland should be our number one for now barring a disaster or injury.

What do we think?
It’s good to see the Villa fans having so much faith in Nyland to be able to say no to Reina who has performed at some of the biggest clubs in Europe over his career. But it seems as though Nyland’s performance against Leicester has put out any doubts from Villa fans he would be unable to adequately fill in for the injured Heaton.
