Aston Villa fans have been pleading for the club not to sign Islam Slimani in the January transfer window.

This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @villareport shared a post on their page relaying information originally published by L’Equipe (Get French Football News) that the club “have enquired” about the striker.

Would Islam Slimani be a suitable replacement for Wesley?

Yes

Yes

No

No

This post then gathered numerous replies from Villa fans who were not happy with this latest transfer rumour.

Here’s a sample of Villa fans not wanting Slimani to join the Birmingham club this month:

The former Leicester and Newcastle striker, who is valued at £7.2 million according to TransferMarkt, currently plays for French side AS Monaco. Slimani has made 14 appearances for Monaco in all competitions so far this season. In those appearances, the 31-year-old has scored seven goals and picked up seven assists (per TransferMarkt).

Despite boasting an impressive record, it seems some Villa fans still don’t want Slimani to make the move to Villa Park.

What do we think?

With current first-choice striker Wesley out for the rest of the season, Villa will need to bring in a new striker this month. Even though Slimani does have reasonable Premier League experience with Leicester and Newcastle (per TransferMarkt), it appears these Villa fans will need more convincing he is the right man to fill in for the injured Brazilian, and and you can understand why when looking at his record of eight goals in 39 Premier League fixtures.
