Spurs fans were frustrated to hear that Tanguy Ndombele is still continuing rehabilitation for his hip injury and is therefore expected to miss another game.

The club provided an update on the Frenchman’s fitness on Twitter, revealing that the 22-year-old is in rehabilitation alongside Hugo Lloris and Ben Davies. The midfielder was injured in Spurs’ defeat at Southampton on New Year’s Day and has not featured since, as he continues to struggle to adapt to the Premier League.

Ndombele joined Spurs in the summer in a club-record deal but is yet to make a strong impression, missing much of the season due to fitness and injury issues. The former Lyon man has averaged a 6.84 rating in the Premier League, having started just 10 games all season, with the midfielder recently ruling himself out of the game against Brighton due to concerns over his own fitness, something which did him no favours with Jose Mourinho.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the latest on Ndombele can be seen in the tweets below.

One fan even stated Ndombele could be another Darren Anderton, which wouldn’t be great for Spurs when you consider the large fee they paid for him back in the summer transfer window, as Anderton has carried the nickname of ‘sick note’ around with him due to his absenteeism.

These Spurs fans are clearly frustrated that Ndombele is still missing through injury and will be hoping that he can make a big impression when he returns to full fitness.

What do we think?

Ndombele has shown with his performances in the Champions League that he can be an important player for Spurs but his fitness is a clear concern for Mourinho. If the Frenchman doesn’t start to impress on a more regular basis, then the £58.5 million rated man’s stay at the club may end up being a short one.
