Aston Villa fans have been responding on Twitter to Dean Smith’s latest comments surrounding a new striker being signed.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @villareport shared a post on their page relaying quotes made by Smith to the official Villa website saying the club will “cope” if they don’t bring a new striker in this week.
Will Villa be relegated if they don't sign a striker this month?
Yes
No
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans who were eager to share their thoughts on this comment.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans reacting to Smith’s comments:
by the looks of things i don’t think we will cope tbh

no we won’t cope, a striker should of been the number 1 priority why we’ve bought in two players in areas we aren’t really desperate before that is beyond me

If we don’t have a striker in by the next game someone’s head gotta role! They’ve known for ages we need a forward plus we’ve been struggling. This shouldn’t be a surprise! Suso needs to get on it sharpish!

In Sunday’s 6-1 defeat to Manchester City, Villa played with no recognised striker in the squad, with Wesley, Jonathan Kodjia and Keinan Davis all unavailable. With Wesley out for the rest of the season with an injury, Smith has been hoping to bring a new striker in this month.
But with his latest comments alluding that the team will cope if the club doesn’t sign a striker soon did not go down well with many Villa fans.
We are not coping. We werent coping when we had wesley so we will not cope.

What do we think?
Even though Wesley had only scored five goals in 21 Premier League appearances so far this season (per TransferMarkt), his absence has already had an impact, with Villa only having one shot on target in Sunday’s defeat.
Villa will need to bring in a striker soon and hope they can hit the ground running to take take the club out of the relegation zone.
