Spurs have reportedly been tracking Lyon striker Moussa Dembele but could face competition for his signature.

According to 90 min football, Spurs have been tracking the French striker along with other Premier League clubs, after his excellent start to the season for the Ligue 1 side. Dembele has hit 10 goals in the French top division so far this season in just 16 appearances and is seen as a viable option for the North London club during this month’s window.

Spurs have been linked with a move for Dembele in the past, during his time with Fulham, before he established himself with Celtic; scoring 51 times for the Scottish club in just 91 appearances. A move to Lyon quickly followed, where Dembele’s goal-scoring prowess has continued to grow; with the Frenchman now having scored on 32 occasions in his first two seasons with the club.

TIF Tactics:

With Kane set for a significant spell on the sidelines following his hamstring tear in the defeat by Southampton earlier this month, Spurs look to be in desperate need of a striker. 17-year-old Troy Parrott is unlikely to be considered ready for a starting role under Jose Mourinho; with the Irish striker having made just one substitute appearance, in the 5-0 win over Burnley, under the Portuguese boss since his appointment in November.

Dembele has proven himself in both Scotland and France and it seems like he is ready for a move to the Premier League and it seems the ideal time for the 23-year-old to make the move following the injury to Spurs’ talismanic striker. The Frenchman is currently valued at £36 million by transfermarkt so it would be an expensive option for the club, but at just 23-years-old, Dembele could be an excellent back-up and even potential future successor to Kane.
