Riyad Mahrez has been named as Manchester City’s Player of the Month for December. The Algerian international impressed on a number of occasions during the month, most notably versus his former club Leicester City when his goal cancelled out Jamie Vardy’s opener.
In light of the news, the City faithful have taken to social media to congratulate the 28-year-old and share their favourite Mahrez moments from last month after City Chief asked their followers for them.

My favorite was when he sent a Sheffield defender sliding into 2020 with a magical trademark cut-back.

What do we think?
Riyad Mahrez was certainly one of a number of candidates who deserved the award and it seems his performance versus Leicester City is what tipped the balance in his favour.
Signed from the Foxes back in July 2018, the left-footed winger will no doubt feel he is deserving of more starts but with competition for places, particularly with the forward areas being so fierce at the Etihad, you can understand why he’s not always found it easy to nail down a first-team place.
Mahrez has started just 52% of the clubs Premier League games so far this season but there has been a clear upturn in his performances in the past few months making it almost impossible for Pep Guardiola to overlook him.
