Spurs fans reacted to the club’s update on Tanguy Ndombele and Ben Davies ahead of today’s clash with Liverpool.

The midfielder sustained the injury in the defeat at Southampton on New Year’s Day and looks set to miss the game against Liverpool on Saturday after the club’s latest tweet on his progress. The Frenchman has struggled with his fitness since joining the club from Lyon in the summer for a club-record deal; suffering two injuries as well as a spell out with ‘fatigue’.

Mourinho recently criticised the 22-year-old after he missed the game with Brighton on Boxing Day despite not being injured and consecutive games against Norwich and Southampton once again proved too much for the Frenchman, as he suffered another injury. Although he has looked impressive in the games in which he has featured, especially in the Champions League where he has averaged a 7.46 rating, fans are concerned with the midfielder’s obvious fitness issues.

Ben Davies suffered an ankle injury back in November and Danny Rose has filled in his place, as well as Jan Vertonghen at times, so the defender returning would certainly provide more stability in that position, but it looks as if supporters will have to wait even longer to see him back.

Was Ndombele a good signing?

These Spurs fans are clearly beginning to lose faith in Ndombele with the 22-year-old set to miss another match through injury.

What do we think?

Spurs shouldn’t rush Ndombele back and ensure that he is back to full fitness before he makes his return to first-team action. There is certainly a decent player in there, but as it stands, the £58.5 million rated man is looking to have been a poor purchase.

Ben Davies also shouldn’t be rushed back to action having been out for an extended period of time, with the risk of potentially triggering the injury if it isn’t healed properly.
