Spurs fans were less than pleased to hear that Jose Mourinho reportedly wants to bring West Ham defender Issa Diop to the club this month.
According to the Daily Express (via Hotspur Related), Mourinho wants to sign the French defender as a long-term replacement for Jan Vertonghen; who is expected to leave the club either in January or when his contract expires at the end of the season. The 23-year-old West Ham man has struggled so far this season; averaging a disappointing 6.56 rating for the Hammers.
Diop joined the East London side from Toulouse in 2018 and has gone on to make 55 appearances in his first two seasons with the club. Mourinho was reportedly a big fan of the French centre-back during his time at Manchester United, describing the young defender following a game against the Hammers in 2018, saying: “Congratulations to the scout that found a 21-year-old kid Diop – a monster who dominated in the duels.”
Would Diop be a good signing for Spurs?

Some Spurs fans are clearly not keen on the potential signing of Diop and will be hoping the club looks elsewhere in the transfer market.
What do we think?
Spurs desperately need defensive reinforcements, with the club having kept just two clean sheets in the league all season. Diop is currently valued at £31.5 million and with West Ham being a Premier League rival, you would expect them to drive up the Frenchman’s price should Spurs make an approach, so they may well be better looking elsewhere.
