This December, Vicente Guaita earned his second Player of the Month award of the season. The Spanish shot-stopper’s exploits in goal have earned him the fans’ respect as a footballer. But while it is clear that they value him highly on the field, he has impressed them thoroughly off the field as well.
This week the club posted a video of Guaita visiting a young fan during the Christmas holiday. The goalkeeper brought a pair of gloves and a gift bag for the young fan who seemed thrilled by the gesture.
Fans were very complimentary of Guaita’s generosity of, not just gifts, but time. They reckon he is a genuinely nice guy off the field.
This is great. Guaita clearly is still working on his English but he’s there. He is going above and beyond for people. This is a class act.

I am crying my eyes out! What a lovely boy and so proud that our club and the best goalie in the league can bring him some joy this Christmas. This is what football and our club should all be about #cpfc

Is Vicente Guaita your favourite Crystal Palace player?
Yes
No
One fan admits that this is not the first time the club has arranged to help out distressed fans.
I’ve experienced what the club do in trying times for fans. There are some amazing people behind the scenes that sort this stuff out, and the players always on board with it.

What do we think?
It was Guaita’s heroics in net that earned him Player of the Month awards, but it was his character and kindness that earned him the fans’ respect.
The supporters will hope to see him continue to perform on and off the field for the remainder of the season.
