Spurs fans were delighted to hear that Borussia Dortmund striker Paco Alcacer has been offered to the North London club on loan this month, however they may face competition from Manchester United

According to 90 min Football (via Ricky Sacks), the Spanish striker has been offered the chance to join Spurs or Manchester United on loan and is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League. The 26-year-old has recently seen his competition for a starting spot in the Dortmund side rise significantly, as they secured the services of Erling Haaland; who marked his debut with a hat-trick this weekend.

Despite starting a lot of games from the bench, the former Barcelona striker has seven goals in all competitions for Lucien Favre’s side this season and would certainly add a goalscoring threat if he were to make the move to North London this month. Spurs are, of course, without usual first-choice Harry Kane, with the England captain recently ruled out until April with a hamstring injury.

Would Alcacer be a good signing for Spurs?

Reaction from Spurs fans to the reported chance of signing Alcacer can be seen in the tweets below.

One fan even stated that Alcacer is in the same tier as Edinson Cavani, as well as Luka Jovic, who have both been linked with moves to Spurs. Interestingly, Cavani has produced five goals in all competitions so far this season and Jovic has produced just the one, so you could say Alcacer is a better option right now.

These Spurs fans would clearly love to sign Alcacer this month and will be hoping that Mourinho can beat his old side Manchester United to his signing.

What do we think?

Alcacer has struggled with injuries this season and the last thing Spurs need is to sign another striker just to see him out injured. However, the £37.8 million rated man has scored goals wherever he has been and could be a great short-term replacement for the injured Kane if Spurs can bring him in.
