Some Celtic fans have made it clear that they will be happy to see young Jonathan Afolabi leave the club on loan in the ongoing January transfer window.

FootballInsider247 have claimed that multiple lower league English clubs are interested in signing the 20-year-old striker. League One and League Two clubs are looking to sign the youngster on a late-January deal, with the player keen on playing at a level higher than the reserves and get first-team football.

Celtic fans: What to do with Afolabi?

Loan him out!

Sell him, he's useless

ReadCeltic relayed this piece of news and it got the reaction of many Hoops fans. They made it clear that they will be happy to see them leave this month.

Although, one fan claimed he didn’t even know who he was.

Afolabi had joined Celtic from Premier League side Southampton in the summer of 2019 on a free transfer.

For the Saints, the striker had made 14 appearances in the Premier League 2 for the Under-23s side. He got four goals and also racked up two goals. In the 2017-18 season, he had made 29 appearances in all competitions for the Under-23s and Under-18s combined, racking up eight goals and racking up four assists as well.

He has previously played for the Ireland Under-19s side. He made seven appearances for the club, scoring two goals for them during that time.

What do we think?

Afolabi is 20 and needs first-team football to develop properly. Celtic are struggling to offer him that. He is yet to make a single appearance for the club this season. Not giving him football will only stagnate his development, even though the player didn’t cost the club anything. A loan move will make sense for the Irishman.
