Kyle Walker-Peters is reportedly set to leave Spurs on a permanent deal, with Crystal Palace looking the likely destination for the right-back.

According to The Sun’s live transfer blog (14:30 – 23rd January 2020) Walker-Peters is set to leave the North London club within the next week. The 22-year-old has made just one appearance under Jose Mourinho; coming in the 3-1 defeat by Bayern Munich back in December, with Serge Aurier having well and truly established himself as the first-choice right-back at the club.

Walker-Peters is a product of the youth academy at Spurs and has gone on to make 24 appearances for the North London club since making his debut in the Carabao Cup back in 2017. He scored his one and only goal for the club in a 6-1 win over FA Cup replay win against Rochdale in 2018 but has struggled to ever really establish himself in the first-team.

TIF Tactics:

Walker-Peters had perhaps hoped that with the departure of Kieran Trippier in the summer that he would be able to become much more of a regular in the Spurs side but he has come unstuck with the excellent form of Aurier. The 22-year-old is currently valued at £9 million by transfermarkt, so it will be interesting to see the sort of fee the club receives should he leave on a permanent deal.

Although Walker-Peters never really set the world alight with his performances for Spurs, his possible departure leaves Spurs with very few options at full-back, with just Aurier a natural in that position. If he does depart then perhaps Mourinho could look to bring another defender in, or use Juan Foyth as his back-up to the Ivory Coast international.
