Phil Hay has claimed that Ian Poveda’s move to Leeds United is done with just the final bits of paperwork to finish off.

Poveda will become the Whites’ second signing of the window after the arrival of Elia Caprile earlier in the week

The 19-year-old was spotted at Elland Road yesterday by some fans and was also seen in a restaurant last night

So, it looks like the deal for Poveda to become a Leeds player will be announced soon.

Will this Poveda deal collapse like the Dan James transfer?

Yes, something will go wrong

The 19-year-old completed a medical yesterday after the Whites agreed a fee for the Manchester City youngster whose contract expires at the end of the season.

What do we think?

The problem for Leeds last year was that the James deal was made on transfer deadline day.

So when Huw Jenkins refused to answer the phone, the Whites had nowhere to go, and the winger returned to Swansea and now plays for Manchester United.

This time, however, Leeds have left themselves plenty of time to sort the Poveda deal out and it appears to be done.

The Whites have had to fight off competition from Torino to seal Poveda’s signature, but it seems as if a call from Marcelo Bielsa convinced (Tuttosport via TEAMtalk) the London-born winger to make the move to Elland Road.

The 19-year-old can play on either wing and has scored 18 goals and provided 14 assists for City’s various youth sides.

He could prove to be a useful addition as Leeds push for promotion if Bielsa decides to give him playing time.
