Southampton midfielder and Tottenham target Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has now been linked with a move to Leicester City on deadline day.
Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet have reported that Hojbjerg, who was linked with a move to Tottenham by Sky Sports on Thursday, has attracted interest from the Foxes. They go onto say that there’s even ‘greater interest’ from Brendan Rodgers’ men for the midfielder and there has been contact between the two parties for him.

It is also mentioned by the report that the Saints will only sell the midfielder if they receive an offer that is ‘reasonable’, which is a condition that could be met.
A regular at St. Mary’s
So far this season, Hojbjerg has been a regular in midfield for Ralph Hasenhutt’s men. He has made a total of 27 appearances in all competitions. He has only one assist to his name, playing regularly in Hasenhuttl’s 4-4-2 shape in the Premier League.
He was a regular in the heart of the park last season too. He made 33 appearances in all competitions for the club. And he had a better tally than the ongoing season. He contributed to a total of four goals and as many as four assists as well.
He had joined the club from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2016 for a reported fee of £12.8m. Since then, he has made 123 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring five goals and racking up six assists as well.

Southampton can’t afford to lose a player so late in the January window, especially if the player is a regular in the midfield. If this had happened some days ago, Leicester or Tottenham may have had a higher chance of signing Hojbjerg.
