Some Celtic fans have made it clear that their club needs to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama this month.
The Hoops are still first in the table, but the recent loss in the Old Firm derby to Rangers means that they have just a two-point lead over Rangers. And the Gers currently have a game in hand over the Hoops.
Celtic fans: Do you want Wanyama back?
That will be stunning
Not good enough now
Some Celtic fans have already made it clear that they want to see their club sign Wanyama this month.
Young Boys, Porto & Feyenoord have been undone by their narrow 4-3-3. It’s really basic football that relies on an element of smash & grab. Celtic, in my opinion, by allowing them even a chance to do this have failed. Our lack of physicality is a problem, Wanyama is the solution.

I’d honestly be ringing Spurs right now for Wanyama

Reflections on yesterday.
Yes we were poor. Midfield lacked bite, which was why I said pre game Ntcham should start. 4 players completely anonymous. Edouard isolated. Still created enough chances to win the game. Missed a penalty. Wanyama a must for January and another striker.— Celtic Family (@CelticFamily67) December 30, 2019
We need more muscle in midfield we lost the battle in there, our midfield are great technical players but broony is the only one with a bit of dig about him. I would love to see wanyama back in January would sort that right out

Wanyama is coming home, a key unnamed striker is coming, and a real reprobate of a center back that eats huns for breakfast

Wanyama itching to get back to Celtic would take pay cut and jump at the bit buzz

Wanyama had left Celtic in the summer of 2013 to join Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton. The Hoops received a fee of £12.5million and the Kenyan then left Southampton to join Pochettino at Tottenham in the summer of 2016 for a fee of £11million.
So far this season for Spurs, Wanyama has played four times in all competitions for the club. All his appearances in the Premier League and the Champions League have come from the bench. But he has made one start and that came in the League Cup game against Colchester.
The £10.8m-rated man, as per TransferMarkt, best season at Spurs came in the 2016-17 campaign. He played 47 times in all competitions that season, scoring five times and assisting once. He helped the club finish second in the Premier League that season. But after that, the midfielder has missed 47 games through injury and two of them have been knee injuries.
What do we think?
Wanyama may not have been at his best over the last two seasons at Spurs. But if fit, he can still do a very good job for a Premiership side like Celtic. He could be the successor to Scott Brown and adds depth to the midfield, with the familiar surroundings possibly helping him settle in quicker.
