These Newcastle United fans have been discussing why Lee Charnley gets a friendly reception at matches.
Lee Charnley is Newcastle United’s managing director and according to Chronicle Live, he has “dodged the limelight and risen from executive understudy to head honcho at St James’ Park.”
These Magpies fans have been discussing why he seems to never get any abuse at match days, whereas, someone like Ayoze Perez was receiving plenty.
Here’s what the Newcastle fans had to say about Charnley after The Insider NUFC started the discussion on Twitter:
Beggars belief that this man can sit in a ground and nothing is said against him yet a player we made a 28 million profit on is jeered as he wanted to play for a club with ambition, #nufc fans eh….. pic.twitter.com/ALVejJzdud

Why do you expect him to be targeted? It took NUFC fans a matter of hours to endorse Ashley’s ownership by snapping up 10k free tickets. They are fans of Sports Direct FC.

I guess as the years have gone on and the more sensible fans have vacated their seats, its left a mark in the lowering of collective intelligence quotient. pic.twitter.com/tXmMklH90M

This in a nutshell is most modern day toon fans. Perez would still be here if Rafa had of been backed and the club shown a bit ambition. However booing him is the easy way out for most

Agree. Perez always gave 100% when at #NUFC. Charnley and Bruce are puppets who will probably let the longstaff brothers leave the club for peanuts and struggle to get any credible signings over the line…2020…another relegation Maybe? #ashleyout

Who deserved to be booed?
Lee Charnley
Ayoze Perez
Newcastle are on a three-game losing streak and are slowly slipping back down the table, currently sitting in 13th place in the Premier League. Indeed, it seems many are perplexed as to why Charnley continues to dodge the limelight as much as he does.
You’ve got to remember the ground is full of #ashleysarmy the real fans left years ago and these muppets support and fund this bent regime.

But when the club gave some tickets, people took it. We should step back. This team has been playing very bad since the start of the year but we have been lucky. Bruce is bad and we know he can’t turn things around. We need new coach and 3 starters @NUFC will be relegated
— Henrique Netto (@henriquenettoo) January 1, 2020
Crazy, isn’t it? Explains why the ground is still relatively ‘full’ after all the shenanigans they’ve pulled since 2007. Hardly anybody seems remotely interested in making it unbearable for these knackers but Perez, a £1.5m signing who did his best for us, deserves it? Bizarre.

What Do We Think?
After losing to Leicester City, we feel that Newcastle United fans need to remember how well Brendan Rodgers’ side have been playing, currently sitting second in the Premier League; so there is really no need for any major panic.
However, seeing your side lose three games in a row must be nerve-racking, especially as the Magpies will be facing Wolves in the league next, as they have also has been playing well and are currently five points above Newcastle in the Premier League.
