Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus scored twice as the Champions overcame Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton side on New Years Day. The Brazilian’s double came in the space of just eight minutes securing all three points and ensuring his side kept the pace with Leicester City in second.
The 22-year-old was given a start despite Sergio Aguero’s return to fitness and repaid the faith shown in him by his coach by making a telling contribution.
Jesus has now scored eight goals in the Premier League this season which is a fantastic return when you consider he’s only been named in the starting line-up 48% of the time.
Is Jesus good enough to be City's number one striker after Aguero?
Yes

What do we think?
Losing a player of Sergio Aguero’s quality at any point in the season is a huge blow to any team but in deputising, Gabriel Jesus has given a fantastic account of himself. When he arrived from Palmeiras many may have been excited by the fact City could boast having two great centre-forwards in the squad, but the fact the £63m-rated star (as per TransferMarkt) was in and out of the side will have no doubt disrupted his rhythm.
Regardless of how often Jesus starts, he has proven that he is a deadly goalscorer. Last season he managed 21 goals in 47 appearances and he’s on course to better that this term having already scored 13 in all competitions so far in the current campaign.
