Aston Villa fans have been calling for the club to sign Pepe Reina in the January transfer window.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @villareport shared a post on their page relaying news originally published by the Daily Mail that the club “have been offered” the chance to sign the Spanish goalkeeper.
Would Pepe Reina be a good replacement for Tom Heaton this season?
Yes
No
This post then gathered a number of replies from Villa fans who were excited by the idea of Reina moving to Villa Park.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans wanting Reina to sign this month:
Get him in.

If we got him on a one-year deal, that would be great.

Would absolutely LOVE this to happen!

The former Liverpool shot-stopper is currently valued at 720k according to TransferMarkt. For current club AC Milan, the 37-year-old has made just one appearance for the Italian club so far this season (per TransferMarkt).
Now that news has emerged that the veteran ‘keeper has been offered a move to Dean Smith’s side this month, a lot of Villa fans have been getting excited over this potential move.
Get him Villa

Wow, this pleases me.

I’d be happy enough with that. First keeper I’ve seen us linked with I’d genuinely prefer to Steer who is back next month some time.

This excites me and I don’t know why
— Ben Oakley (@benoakley7) January 7, 2020
He might be 37 but that would be very decent whichever way you look at it.

What do we think?
With first-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton out injured for the rest of the season, a move for Reina could potentially fill the hole left by Heaton. After making 789 club appearances in his career, he would bring a barrel full of experience to Villa Park.
