Aston Villa left-back Matt Targett has received a ton of praise following his impressive display during the clubs Carabao Cup semi-final victory over Leicester City on Tuesday.
Dean Smith’s side sealed their progression in the most dramatic fashion when Trezeguet scored in the 93rd minute to break Foxes’ hearts.
Targett had opened the scoring after just 12 minutes, putting his side in the driving seat and the full-back’s performance has been hailed as his best ever in an Aston Villa shirt.
Was that Matt Targett's best game in a Villa shirt?

What do we think?
This was Matt Targett’s second goal in Aston Villa colours, his first also came in front of the home crowd against Brighton and Hove Albion back in October. Signed from Southampton in the summer for £13.95m (via Transfermarkt.co.uk), the defender has made 16 Premier League appearances so far this term for Dean Smith’s side.
Some of the supporters labelled this as his best performances since arriving at the club and the player ratings over at WhoScored.com would certainly back that up. An excellent performance from a very talented individual and one many of the Holte End faithful will hope is just the start of something special.
