Scottish giants Celtic have been linked with a move to sign Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Cameron Dawson

Sheffield-based outlet Sheffield Star say that Dawson is eager to see his future get sorted out by the Owls as soon as possible. His current deal expires in the summer of 2020, but discussions have been held over a new contract for the goalkeeper.

Celtic fans: Do you want Dawson at the club?

Rangers, Derby County and Blackburn Rovers are also closely monitoring his situation, the report states.

A second-choice at Hillsborough

Dawson, who is valued at £315k (as per Transfermarkt), is currently 24 and has formerly played for the England Under-19s side, apart from also having played for their Under-18s side.

So far this season, the goalkeeper has made 16 appearances in all competitions for the club. 13 of them have come in the Championship, with Dawson having kept a total of six clean sheets in the league and letting in ten goals.

In the first half of the previous season, Dawson was a regular between the sticks for the Owls. He made a total of 28 appearances in all competitions for the club, keeping only three clean sheets and letting in 46 goals.

Dawson is a product of the club’s youth academy and has made 55 appearances in all competitions for the club. Keeping 19 clean sheets and conceding 65 goals.

TIF Tactics

Fraser Forster has been the club’s regular first-choice goalkeeper and he is currently on loan from Southampton. He has made 25 appearances in all competitions for the club, with Scott Bain the club’s second-choice goalkeeper.

If Forster doesn’t sign permanently for the Hoops, they could consider signing Dawson permanently in the summer. He would be cheap and as he is still only 24 it will present a very lucrative deal for Celtic.
