Aston Villa fans have been sharing their disappointment on Twitter over the latest transfer update surrounding Islam Slimani.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @villareport shared a post on their page relaying information originally shared by Le 10 Sport that the club have “made a loan offer” for the striker until the end of the season.
Who would you rather see at Villa Park this month?
Islam Slimani
Christian Benteke
Here’s what some Villa fans had to say about the report:
I’m hoping this isn’t true. He’s never shown any consistent ability in the Premier League and at 31, he ain’t getting better…. #avfc

Has his loan at Monaco ended? So if we loan Slimani we can’t loan Benteke, I’d rather loan Benteke and get another on loan from abroad.

Slimani or Benteke… Benteke all day for me. Slimani couldnt cut it with Leicester. If Villa get Slimani on loan we cannot then get Benteke as Slimani belongs to Leicester.

The former Leicester and Newcastle striker is currently on a season-long loan deal with French side AS Monaco. The 31-year-old has made just 14 appearances for the French side so far this season. But in those appearances, Slimani has managed to rack up seven goals and pick up seven assists along the way (per TransferMarkt), so you can understand why there’s an interest given his recent form.
Have we really got this desperate? Yes ?????

Not one i would have hoped for,but it will have to do. Assume we are working on another one also so can always hope that name is someone more proven or with high potential.

What do we think?
Of course, Villa fans will be hoping that he can carry his form with him into the Premier League if he ends up moving to Villa Park, though his unconvincing goals record from his time at Leicester doesn’t bode well and it appears as if they’ve already written off the forward.
Although, a loan move wouldn’t be the worst of ideas as it would avoid them splashing out on someone who could turn out to be a disappointment.
