After Rangers lost in the Scottish League Cup Final there was lots of criticism thrown towards certain Rangers players. One of those players was James Tavernier. With the captain being Steven Gerrard’s go-to penalty taker this season, fans were expecting him to step up for the spot-kick in the final. However, it was Alfredo Morelos who took the kick instead. Of course, he missed it.
This had some people questioning why Tavernier wasn’t stepping up to the plate. Some wondered if this was an instruction given by Gerrard prior to the match. However, there was one ex-player who suggested that Tavernier ‘passed buck’ by bestowing the responsibility on the young Colombian himself.
The Sun published an article on the accusation and posted a link to the piece on Twitter with a title that read, “Ex-Rangers ace says James Tavernier ‘passed buck’ over Alfredo Morelos’ penalty in Betfred Cup Final against Celtic” (The Sun).
When they heard that an ‘Ex-Rangers ace’ was sharing his opinion, they were intrigued to hear who the heavy hitter was. But it soon became apparent that the player in question was Kevin Kyle. As soon as they found out who it was, Rangers fans couldn’t help but laugh at The Sun’s use of the word ‘ace’.

Do you consider Kevin Kyle a Rangers 'ace'?
No
Yes
One fan struggles to remember who Kyle is, let alone consider him an ace.
I’m struggling to remember him

What do we think?
It is clear that the Rangers fans don’t rate Kyle as highly as The Sun reporters do. Perhaps there is a small fan club inside their editorial room? Either way, these supporters were treated to a small chuckle after a week that presented them with two disappointing results.
