While the Scottish League Cup Final had many negatives for Rangers fans, there were a few positives to take away. Mainly, Rangers were the better side. Sharing 50% of the possession, Rangers managed to take 16 shots to their rival’s five (BBC). They were undisputedly more dangerous going forward, despite losing 1-0.

Another positive from the match was Ryan Jack. Although he was unable to help his team find the win, he showed his mental strength early on in the game. After tracking back to make an unbelievable tackle, Jack went down injured after landing on his knee awkwardly. As soon as medics came onto the field fans undoubtedly began to worry. But despite being in obvious discomfort, Jack returned to the field to continue. His fighting spirit was admired by fans.

Would Rangers have continued to compete as well as they did if Jack stayed off?

One fan was more impressed with the tackle itself, claiming that it was one of the best he had ever seen.

What do we think?

Unfortunately for Jack, his return to the field won’t mean anything now. But the supporters were clearly appreciative of his willingness to continue in the moment. The fans will be hoping he shows an equally as courageous performance when his side meets Celtic once again at the end of December.
