There are many positions locked down in Steven Gerrard’s first-team. Alfredo Morelos appears to be undroppable upfront and Allan McGregor is the obvious number one at the back. Ryan Jack has been a beast in the midfield and has, arguably, become one of Gerrard’s best players. Another two positions that have been pretty much taken without dispute are the two full-back spots. Borna Barisic and James Tavernier have been vital to Gerrard’s setup this season.
According to Daily Record via Ibrox Loyal, backup right-back Matt Polster has been told he is allowed to leave the club in search of a first-team spot elsewhere. Fans had mixed reactions about this news. Some were unbothered by the move, and trust Gerrard’s opinion on the player.
No great loss

Looked decent player tbh but Gerrard sees him everyday in training so we’ll trust his opinion.

Another group criticised Gerrard’s inability to get the best out of the players’ he has bought. They can’t understand how he is spending so much on players with such a high turnover. They would have liked to have seen Polster given more of a chance.
Another waste of money. There’s so many players that have came and gone. Wonder what the budget is like for Gerrard as he’s wasting a lot of money

Should be Halliday and Docherty long before Polster.

Do you think Polster deserved more of a chance at Rangers?
Yes
No
One fan guesses that Polster’s apparent exit will be a sign of the manager’s trust in Nathan Patterson, the young academy right-back who is impressing fans greatly.
This will be due to the young RB in the reserves that @4ladshadadream was talking about being in front of him I’d imagine.

What do we think?
It appears that fans have split opinions on Polster. It is clear that they all reckon he has, or had, potential. But his extended absence from the team could spell the end for Polster’s time at Ibrox. Perhaps it’s for the best.
