Liverpool fans have been calling Twitter for the club to sign Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly in the upcoming January transfer window.
Interestingly, according to Area Napoli, the Senegalese centre-back has asked to leave his current club.
This comes after Liverpool fan Twitter account @ScouserChrisLFC shared a post on their page asking their followers if they would take the Senegalese defender at Anfield in January.
This post then led to many Liverpool fans drooling over the idea of the centre-half joining the club next month.
Do Liverpool need Kalidou Koulibaly?
Yes
No
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans wanting Koulibaly to sign:
This guy is a monster, take him quicker than a huge bid for sancho

Definitely the guy is a beast and there is the Senegalese connection with Mane so we could maybe entice him

Without doubt. Him and Virg next to each other would be like putting a cheat cartridge in your PS1

With the recent sacking of Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti, some Liverpool fans have been thinking of a potential swoop for the 28-year-old centre-half.
Him and Van Dijk at the back would be immense

Definitely… Another unit at the back with Virgil

Absolutely – defensive problems need fixing. As long as Klopp thinks he’s the right man

He’s an incredible CB, imagine VVD and Koulibaly . But at 28 (in his prime) he’d cost LFC a huge sum which I don’t see us paying. If he does leave, whoever gets him will be getting a world class CB.
— Sebastian ‘Tino’ (@Tino_LFC) December 9, 2019
YES. Take Lovren and put him next to Virg, pretty much a brick wall.
— kimberley (@kimberleyxlfc) December 9, 2019
Yes… We’d be the invincible unbearable unbeatables then hahaha
— RedMist (@TheLFCNinja) December 9, 2019
Would allow us to go invincible
— Ryan Fisher (@huskies201356) December 9, 2019
I’d have him at LFC all day long!

What do we think?
If Liverpool can secure the signature of Koulibaly in January, he and Van Dijk together could be a formidable defensive pairing. The defender, who is currently valued at £67.50 million, according to TransferMarkt, has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Serie A and he even caught the eye of Chris Sutton after his performance against Mohamed Salah earlier on this season.
In 16 Premier League matches so far this season, Jurgen Klopp’s side have only managed to keep three clean sheets (per TransferMarkt). If Klopp decides the defence needs a boost, maybe a bid for Koulibaly could be on the table for January.
