Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to slate the comments made by Leicester goalkeeper Kaspar Schmeichel after losing 4-0 to the Reds.
This comes after Liverpool fan Twitter account @LFCFansCorner shared a post on their page relaying Schmeichel’s comments saying his team “were in the game until the referee had to make himself a hero.”
Was Kaspar Schmeichel right to blame the referee for Liverpool's win?
Yes
No
This post then gathered a number of replies from Liverpool fans who were not happy with the Danes comments.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans responding to Schmeichel’s words:
Except even at 1-0 they weren’t in the game, they were getting battered and hanging on by the skin of their teeth

If it was a boxing match the towel would have been thrown in!!

Should have been 3-0 in 5mins

Schmeichel is likely to be referring to referee Michael Oliver’s decision to award Liverpool a penalty in the second half after the ball hit Leicester defender Çaglar Söyüncü’s arm. James Milner then scored the penalty to make it 2-0 to the visitors (per BBC Sport).
Schmeichel’s frustrations towards the referee at the end of the game did not go down well with some Liverpool fans on Twitter.
I would guess the ref stopped them from having a shot on target…

What do we think?
Schmeichel’s comments blaming the referee for Leicester loss comes across as very bitter and unnecessary. These comments could get the ‘keeper into some trouble with the Premier League. But after such a heavy defeat it’s obvious why he would be angry.
